7. Are Tidy Books products safe for babies and toddlers?
Safety is our first concern, and our products are manufactured to Safety Standard BS EN1727, and finished in our safe water lacquer which gives off virtually no odours, unlike many standard toy varnishes.
- The Tidy Books bookcase fixes to the wall so it can’t be toppled.
- The screws are not covered by caps because that could be a choking hazard.
- The bookcases are used by many nurseries and playgroups.
- The Tidy Books Box and ForgetMeNot Organiser are suitable from age 3 upwards as they have smaller parts.
8. What are Tidy Books products made from?
We use sustainable lime wood and lime plywood throughout. The bookcase, Tidy Books Box, ForgetMeNot and Bunk Bed Buddy are made from lime plywood, with inner shelves on the bookcase made from solid lime wood. They are hand produced and so each piece is individual.
9. You say you’re an ethical company. How?
We strive to be a responsible business and use sustainable wood. All Tidy Books designs are finished in our safe water lacquer which has very low VOCs, (volatile organic compounds) and so is better for the planet and the people who make Tidy Books products. Our flat pack designs mean we use less fuel to transport them to you. Tidy Books products are designed to last your family for years, and then be passed on. Rather than becoming landfill, they’ll be an investment. Find out more here
10. Can you tell me more about your work with charities?
We’re in a long-term partnership with national literacy charity Coram Beanstalk . They work to get kids reading, to improve their life chances. When you buy a Tidy Books product, we give a percentage of the sale price to Coram Beanstalk. You can read more about what we do here.
11. Why should I choose a Tidy Books design?
We believe in creating original designs for kids that simply make sense to kids. Tidy Books products are practical, look great (so you feel good about them in your home) and are functional for kids to use; helping develop their independence. You won’t find us making copies; all of our designs solve real-life family problems with original concepts.
